FAQs

Where are meetings held?

Initial meetings are generally held virtually via computer or phone. For more in-depth follow-up discussions, we can meet at your home, or we have a range of meeting room options available in Surrey and central London.

Do I have to pay for an initial meeting?

The initial meeting is held at our expense and there is no charge for you. This is where we figure out what work we can do together and whether we’re a good fit for each other’s requirements.

What do I need to bring to an initial meeting?

It can be useful to put together a summary of what you currently have in terms of assets and liabilities, and where they are held. It’s also useful for us to have a quick summary of your current income and expenses, and any personal insurance policies you have.

How long should I allow for an initial meeting?

Generally, an initial meeting will be 30 – 60 minutes.

Do I have to sign up to your services at an initial meeting?

No, this meeting is for us to get to know each other before we decide if we would like to work together.

How can I book an initial meeting?

You can book a meeting here.

Are you independent?

Yes, we act on behalf of our clients and have our own investment philosophy. We are not tied to any providers or restricted in what options we can suggest to clients.

Are you regulated?

Yes, we are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Hoe Bridge Wealth Ltd is an appointed representative of Sense Network Limited which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Hoe Bridge Wealth Ltd is entered on the Financial Services Register (www.fca.org.uk/register) under reference number 1018974.

Can you advise on Final Salary/Defined Benefit transfers?

No, we do not advise on these areas, however, we can suggest several experienced specialists in this specific advice area.

What happens if Duncan is away on holiday?

Our business is digitally enabled, and in the event of an emergency, you can contact us even if Duncan is on leave. However, for less urgent matters, we will contact you as soon as reasonably practicable.

Your investments are never held by our firm, so there is no direct risk to your assets if an accident were to befall your adviser.

What do you charge for a financial plan?

Please see our fees page here for a full explanation of how we charge. Our minimum initial fee is £1,500 which is 0.75% of a £200,000 investment, or 1% of £150,000 invested. Initial fees are capped at £5,000 which equates to 0.75% of just less than £670,000.

Do you take a percentage or are your fees fixed?

Please see our fees page for a full explanation of how we charge. Our initial fees have a minimum and maximum fee. Our ongoing fees are also based on a percentage of total investment, but the charges are tiered so larger clients benefit from economies of scale in our services to them.

Therefore, if you need to speak with us more often, as life happens, you don’t need to worry that you’ll get an invoice you weren’t expecting.

Do you get commission?

Commission can be paid to us by protection or insurance providers. For investments, we do not receive any commission and are paid directly by clients for our advice, separately from any platform (custody) or investment management charges by third parties.

This is explained fully in our Client Agreement and any amount will be fully disclosed to you as part of our recommendations before you proceed with any product.

Do you charge VAT?

We do not charge VAT because our advice relates to a specific financial product – typically pensions, other personal investments, or insurance. Where this is not the case, we will explain this before you agree to any work to be done by us.
